FAQs

FAQ: FAQ

How will ABA therapy help my child?

ABA therapy identifies developmental deficiencies identified during an initial assessment of your child’s functioning across multiple areas which can include areas of verbal communication; such as the ability to converse with parents and peers, request items, etc.  Nonverbal communication is also targeted, such as gesturing and understanding social cues.

Other important target areas of ABA include social skills, play skills, potty training, self-care skills (brushing teeth, washing hands, etc.), and day-to-day living skills (getting dressed, table manners, etc.).

When is the best time for my child to begin ABA therapy?

The earlier, the better! Research shows the most significant improvements in areas of deficits occur when ABA is started as early as possible!

Can you work with my child’s Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, School Teacher, etc.?

At Pathway, we coordinate services with other providers to maximize your child’s development!

Does my child need a formal autism diagnosis to get treatment?

Children are not required to have a diagnosis for treatment, but most insurances need a formal diagnosis in order to receive coverage for services.

How long does each therapy session take?

This varies from client to client. ABA therapy is individualized; therefore, therapy times are also individualized and client specific. These times are determined after your child is evaluated by our BCBAs during their initial assessment to determine the medically necessary number of hours for your child.
